Antique, attractive small copper lidded box with coin/medallion, exc. condition
A very attractive antique small copper and steel lidded box. In detail we have the following:
a hinged copper lid with serpentine front edge
there is a coin/medallion that has been soldered onto the centre of the lid. This is a historic addition, and polishing over the years means that it is now impossible to precisely identify the profile of the king or emperor. The letters VS can just be made out. My best guess is that this coin/medallion depicts the Prince Regent (the later George 1V, 1762 - 1830). This item probably dates to the mid-19th century
the hinge is in excellent working order
there is ridged steel decoration around the perimeter of both the lid and the sides
the 4 brass bun feet all in good order
the base of the interior is lined in green baize
the copper has been polished - any darkness shown in the pictures is just reflection from the camera; e.g in one of the photographs you can make out the shape of the camera and the word LUMIX which is the make of camera with which these photographs were taken
I suspect that this item is constructed from steel with an overlay of copper
no scratches to the copper
Postage is just to the UK mainland with delivery by UPS.
