Full Description

Antique, late Georgian/early Victorian Journeyman’s pine workbox

A charming late Georgian/early Victorian pine workbox. In detail we have the following:

A substantial brass handle to the top with original firttings

Original brass hinges and screws, all of which are secure

18th century escutcheon

The lock is present, but there is no key

Bracket feet – some repairs as shown in some of the photographs

This chest/trunk is wobble free and stable

The lid opens to reveal a void interior which is marked through use. No attempt has been made to remove these historic marks, but the interior has been wiped and is dust free. This charming workbox is ready for immediate use

Mortice and tenon jointed throughout – there are no nails used in the construction of this chest

Summary:

A delightful chest/trunk of small proportions easy to accommodate in a work/craft room. Stable and solidly constructed. Two coats of a good quality wax have recently been applied

The key and tassle are not original to the chest and are for decorative purposes only
