Full Description
A stunning Victorian (Arts and Crafts) footman
Wrought iron legs (historically blackened and the paint now refreshed) brass engraved plate, and copper button embellishments
In detail we have the following:
- a wrought iron base, the front legs being of cabriole form with the rear being straight uprights
- the brass top plate has a central engraved design of cupid
- at each corner of the top plate is an engraved horseshoe
- below the engraved cupid figure at the bottom of the plate is a stylised floral design
- there are 6 (3 on each side) copper button embellishments. On each side the top and bottom of these embellishments are within the horseshoe shape
Footmen like these were placed on Victorian hearths where kettles, irons or plates would be placed for warming. Occasionally they would be used as an additional seat.
This is a good looking sturdy item.
Postage is just to within the UK mainland. This item will be delivered via UPS
Please note: the gooseneck-shaped copper kettle is not included in this sale, and is there simply for display purposes.
