Full Description
A charming Victorian Pembroke table of small proportions. Unusually in pine, with ebonised mouldings and accents.
In detail we have the following:
- A rectangular pine table: 51cms by 39cms when closed
- The two side flaps once raised are supported by two swing arm lopers
- Each of the side flaps is 51cms by 22.5cms. When the table is fully extended it gives a working area of 80.5 cms by 51cms. Both flaps are slightly warped as can be seen in some of the photographs
- All three elements of the top have ebonised mouldings. The mouldings are chamfered at the corners - 3 of the four corners have historically been repaired
The top rests on attractive turned, tapered and reeded supports
At one end of the table there are two pine drawers with ebonised detail. The original turned drawer knobs are present.
Below the second of these drawers there is a pull out well for storage as can be seen in one of the photographs
At the other end of the table there is a pull down drawer with the original ball catch. This gives access to a flat surface 25.5cms by 21cms. This surface is flush with the reverse of the pull down drawer giving a total surface area of 43cms by 25.5cms
This is a very attractive Pembroke table. I've seen lots of Penbroke tables but can't recall ever seeing one in pine with ebonised detail. It is the diminutive size of this table that gives it its charm. It makes an excellent hall lamp or side table, but is also ideal as a breakfast table for anyone with a small kitchen.
In good condition with good colour, form and proportion
As with all my items, this table is also advertised on my website so may be withdrawn from eBay at any time
This is a collection only item from Buntingford, East Herts SG9 (and, being of small proportions, easily fits inside a medium sized car)
